Jimmy's second pneumothorax

Finally I have my life back!!! Jimmy is back home after his second pneumothorax (collapsed lung) in the last month. This time he had to stay five nights in the hospital with a chest tube instead of one because apparently his lung never fully healed after the first one.

For the past week our world has been turned upside down. This is how we made it through such a tough time.
The boys and I half way moved in to the hospital room with Jimmy.

Lennon taking a nap.

Jude playing Lego's on a blanket on the floor.

And Jimmy stuck in a hospital bed with a tube coming out of his chest.
These pictures were all taken the last day he was in the hospital. They are very hard to look at because by this time the depression had set in for both Jimmy and myself. I was emotionally and physically exhausted. Jimmy was so tired of being in that room and missed his home and family tremendously. Every night I had to walk out of that hospital without him was the worst night of my life. I hope I never have to go through that again. I hope Jude never has to see me cry again and tell me, "don't worry mommy, I have it all under control."

Thankfully it's all over now and hopefully it will never happen again. On a lighter note, I am getting to do all kinds of new things that Jimmy would have done before. Today I climbed up a 20 foot extension ladder and unscrewed a part from the satellite on our roof. I unclogged the drain pipe coming from our house with a 20 foot piece of steel rod. I crawled underneath our house to put in a sump pump to pump out all the water that was spewing out because of the clogged drain pipe. Tomorrow I get to cut some plexiglass to fix a broken window and put in our window ac units (yes, our house is ancient and we don't have central heat and air). Tuesday Jimmy is going to show me how to change the oil in my 4Runner, I'm really excited about that one! I'll be sure to post pictures! I also have to build a fence around our chicken house and my garden. I am happy to do all of these things and anything else that comes my way as long as my dear Jimmy is here to teach me : )

  1. it's so empowering to know that we can do all kinds of crazy shit when necessary, but it's so much easier (and more enjoyable) having amazing husbands by our side!!!
