I have been studying the traits and dispositions of the "lower animals" (so called) and contrasting them with the traits and dispositions of man. I find the result humiliating to me. ~Mark Twain, Letters from the Earth, 1907
We got some more chickens on Saturday! Ten Silver Laced Wyandotte laying hens (on the right). I love watching them, they are very much like humans. Our new hens are very snobbish and anti-social with the other chickens, as you can see in the picture. They have taken over the chicken house and when it's feeding time they can easily scare off the roosters. We are getting about six eggs a day from the new hens. Jude loves to gather them.
Lennon loves to chase the chickens : )
I love that my boys are able to be so close to animals and nature and will come to truly appreciate both. It's a wonderful feeling having the chickens walking around freely amongst us. This is how humans should live, on farms with chickens at their feet and cows in the pasture, caring for the land and the animals that give us so much in return.
definitely how humans should live!

ReplyDeleteWe got the hens from a guy that used to work for us in Criner. We paid $100 for 10 otherwise I think they're $12 a piece. Let me know if you want some and I'll go with you. Click on my music player where it says "create your own". After you make it just copy the code and insert it in an HTML gadget on your blog :)
