Oh, the Places You'll Go!
You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the guy who'll decide where to go. -Dr. Seuss
We read that Dr. Seuss book yesterday. When we were done I asked Jude where he wanted to go (meaning in life) and he replied, "To the Y for swim lessons." "I mean when you get older, what do you want to do, where do you want to go?" I asked. He said, "I just want to play Lego's in my Lego room and stay here, I don't want to grow up." I felt very happy and proud at that moment. I spent most of my childhood wishing I could grow up faster. I'm happy to know that Jude is perfectly content in his life and that he likes exactly where he's at. I think a lot of this has to do with the fact that he is free to be himself, free to learn what he chooses, and (mostly) free to spend his time how he chooses. And I can't help but be proud of myself for job well done, the job of raising a happy child : )
