White Texas Sheet Cake

This is one of our favorite cakes! If you like the flavor of almond extract you will LOVE this cake too! I apologize the photo isn't gorgeous but this is one of those ooey, gooey, yummy, melt in your mouth cakes that doesn't need to look pretty because it tastes too good to matter!

White Texas Sheet Cake
1 cup butter
1 cup water
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1 tsp salt
1tsp baking soda
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1/2 cup sour cream
1 tsp almond extract

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease 10x15 inch jelly roll pan. Mix together flour, sugar, salt, and baking soda. Set mixture aside. Bring butter and water to a boil in a large saucepan. Remove from heat and stir in flour mixture, eggs, sour cream, and almond extract. Spread in prepared pan and bake for 20-22 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes. Prepare frosting while cake cools.

Frosting
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup milk
4 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/2 tsp almond extract
1 cup walnuts (optional, I leave them out)

Bring butter and milk to a boil in saucepan. Remove from heat and add sugar and almond extract. Mix well and stir in walnuts. Spread over warm cake.
