Melt in your mouth sugar cookies

These cookies are amazing and have been a family favorite for years now. Not only is the taste fabulous but the texture is equally as wonderful, they really do seem to melt in your mouth. I made them for Jude's birthday party today and they received LOTS of compliments! They are really pretty cookies and would be great for baby and wedding showers too.

1 cup butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup powdered sugar
2 eggs
1 cup vegetable oil (I use coconut)
1 tsp. vanilla extract
4 cups & 4 tsp. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cream of tarter

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. I like to line my cookie sheets with parchment paper for these cookies.
  • Cream butter and sugars together. Add eggs, oil, and vanilla and mix well.
  • Sift dry ingredients together then add to mixture.
  • Chill dough.
  • Roll into small balls (I make mine about the size of acorns) then roll in powdered sugar.
  • Bake for 9-10 minutes depending on the size of your cookies.

  1. I LOVE sugar cookies. I don't think I have ever seen vegetable oil in a sugar cookie before? Maybe that is what makes them melt in your mouth? They look delicious.

  7. Eeek, I forgot to mention that you should actually chill the dough before rolling into balls! I'll make that change to the recipe right now!
