Pee Pee Teepee tutorial

I wish I could say that I thought of that name but I'm not that clever! I saw these at the register in a maternity store a few days ago and I thought, I could totally make these. So I did! If you are the mother of a boy you know exactly what these are for, and if you are about to have a little baby boy then it won't take you long to find out! During diaper changes the smallest breeze triggers a fountain reaction and these little pee pee teepees will save you from a lot of extra laundry :)

Take something round like a bowl that is about 7 inches in diameter (across) and trace it on a piece of cardstock or an empty cereal box. Cut out the circle.

You can either use one piece of flanel or flanel on the inside and fabric on the outside like I did. If you are just using one piece of flanel then trace the full circle on your flanel, otherwise fold your circle in half and trace a half circle on both the fabric and the flanel.

Place RIGHT sides together and sew along rounded edge. Cut small notches around the edge making sure not to get too close to the sewn seam. This will give you a nicer rounded edge when you turn it right side out.

When you are done with the notches turn it right side out and run you finger along the inside curve to press the seam out. Edge stitch around the curved edge. Fold your piece in half with the outside fabric touching and stitch along the straight open edge. Go back and zig zag stitch for extra strength then trim off any excess fabric.

Turn right side out and press out the top corner and there you have it!

  5. I'm late to the party-but thank you so much for the tutorial...will be making a few of these to match my diaper bag for my little boy that's due next month. I already have girlies...so when I found out this little was a boy I freaked out a little because of diaper horror stories I'd heard. So thank you for this-it eases my fear of boy diapers a little bit ;)
