3 cups uncooked spiral pasta
2 lbs bulk Italian sausage
1 med. onion, chopped
1/2 med. green bell pepper, diced
1 pkg fresh mushrooms, sliced
1 jar marinara sauce
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp dried oregano
4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 pkg sliced pepperoni
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Cook pasta according to directions on the package.
- Meanwhile, cook sausage, onion, and bell pepper. When meat is just about done, add the mushrooms; drain off any fat when meat is done.
- Stir in the marinara sauce (after I pour the jar out, I like to add about 1/4 cup water to the jar and shake then pour it in with the mixture), tomato paste, and seasonings.
- Chop up half the package of pepperoni and add to sauce and meat mixture then stir in drained pasta.
- Pour half of the mixture in large baking dish then sprinkle with half of the mozzarella. Repeat layers.
- Top with Parmesan and remaining pepperoni.
- Cover and bake for 20 minutes. Uncover and bake for 10-15 minutes longer.
