Cloth diaper wipe solution

We have used cloth diapers with all three of our boys but have always used disposable wipes (chlorine and alcohol free of course). Our newest little baby River gets an irritated bottom when we use disposable wipes so we have been using cloth wipes (baby washcloths) and a homemade diaper wipe solution.

Here is the recipe I used.
1 Tbs. apricot oil (almond or olive oil would also work)
1 Tbs. liquid castile soap (I used Dr. Bronner's)
2 drops tea tree essential oil
1 drop lavender essential oil
1 cup water
Add the oils to the water then stir in soap. I store my solution in a container and dip my cloths wipes in it as needed. You could also put it in a spray bottle and spray your wipes. The solution needs to be changed weekly so it doesn't get musty or mildewy.

Here is a great website for lots of different cloth wipe solution recipes, http://www.zany-zebra.com/cloth-wipe-solution.shtml

  1. I just use plain baby soap and water. Do you find that the oils add more to the mixture? Thanks for the recipe. I'm a new follower from Something Swanky.:)

  2. The essential oils are for scent and antibacterial purposes. The apricot oil is just nice and moisturizing on baby's bottom :)

  3. Thanks for posting this, Paige! Are you still happy with this? I'm tired of buying wipes solutions. Most of them seem to have ingredients that we have in the house, anyway!
